Impressionistic picture of the sunset at the confluenced Fox- and Wabash rivers. During November and December 1832 Bodmer every day went along the Fox and Wabash rivers in search of animal specimens and he also made drawings there.

Handcoloured aquatint and etching by Sigismond Himely (1801-1872) after watercolour paintings by Karl Bodmer, from Prince Maximilian's “Travels in the Interior of North America, 1832-1834”.

First state (Ruud 2004, p 99) for a German edition, printed by Finot & Bougeard, Paris, 1837-42, on wove paper (papier vélin), published by Jakob Hölscher, Koblenz, 1837-42. Without the English title and publishers' credits, the identifying numeral is roman.

Plate mark: 41 x 54 cm, paper size: 42 x 59 cm. With blind stamp: C. BODMER.
