Atkinson. While on board the steamer Yellow Stone Bodmer
passed the Blackbird hills, named for the Omaha chief,
whose grave was here. Bodmer's watercolour omits the
Indians inserted in the print version.

from Prince Maximilian's “Travels in the Interior of
North America, 1832-1834”.
Rare first state (Ruud 2004, p 269) for a German
edition, printed by Bougeard, Paris, 1837-42, on chine
collé, published by Jakob Hölscher, Koblenz, 1837-42.

the English title.
