St. Ignatius Loyola dressed as a monk, writing his book with spiritual exercises. In front of him stands Maria, over them is the Holy Spirit depicted as a dove.

Skilfully worked out oval picture, with opaque colours on vellum. Probably Flemish, 17./18. century. Ca. 7 x 6 cm.

Ignatius von Loyola (1491-1556), Founder of the Jesuit Order.

Patron saint of spiritual exercises, of children and pregnant women; against fever, magic and pangs of conscience.
