Uppermost Picture: A hunter and several animals of northern countries, elks, reindeers, bears etc.

Main picture: Boats in distress surrounded by gigants of the sea: whales, crabs, cuttlefish and others.

Handcoloured woodcut from the „Cosmographia“ by Sebastian Münster, Basel about 1550, 1st German edition, 26 x 34 cm, with the artist's initials: H R MD.

Artist of the picture was the Swiss painter Manuel Hans Rudolf Deutsch (1525-1571). Deutsch created many of the woodcut illustrations for Sebastian Münster's „Cosmographia“.
