Masterpiece of a Folding Fan

With a splendid colourful gouache painting on leather at the front, back side blank.
View of the harbour of Seville with the cathedral in the background.

Artist: Adolfo Giraldez y Penalves (1840 Cadiz – Sevilla 1920), painter of maritime landscapes, lived in Madrid from 1882. Compare: Thieme-Becker, vol. 13/14, p 155.

Signature: A. Giraldez.
Date: Spain, end of the 19th century.
Size: Hight 37,5 cm.

Folding fan made of 15 ivory sticks, including the coversticks. Upper part covered with leather on both sides. With a tassel.

Very good condition, only a few traces of use.

Provenance: Princess Pilar of Bavaria.
