Michael Wening (1645 Nuremberg - Munich 1718,
copper engraver) became an official copper engraver
at court of the elector Ferdinand Maria of Bavaria
in 1669. His most important work, a comprehensive
and detailed description of the entire electorate,
was published from 1701. Four volumes with about
750 plates contain the views of (nearly) all
towns, villages, castles and monasteries of
Bavaria.
