General view of Ansbach seen from the Kammerforster Road, with the churches St. Johannis and St. Gumbertus and with the tower of the Herried Gate.

Good impression, nicely coloured by hand, paper throughout brownish and somewhat stained, in the centre vertical printer's crease in the upper part, otherwise good condition.

Gustav Kraus (1804 – 1852)

Gustav Wilhelm Kraus (1804 Passau - Munich 1852; draughtsman, lithographer and publisher in Munich) studied under Wilhelm von Kobell at the academy of arts in Munich. 1836 he founded his own publishing house in Munich. He is well known in Bavaria as a chronicler of the Bavarian life during the reign of Ludwig I. (1825-1848) and became famous for his pictures of traditional costumes and for his views of Bavaria.
