The Order of Friars Minor Conventual, also known
as the Conventual Franciscans, is a branch of the
order of Roman Catholic Friars founded by Francis
of Assisi in 1209. The Order of Poor Ladies or Second
Order of St. Francis is an order of nuns in the
Roman Catholic Church, which was founded by the
Saints Clare of Assisi (1194-1253) and Francis of
Assisi (1181/82-1226) in 1212.
