Johann Stumpff (1500 – 1576)

Swiss theologian, cartographer, historian, writer and chronicler. His most important work is a richly illustrated, topographical and historical chronicle of Switzerland ("Schwyzer Chronick") published in 1547/48.

Heinrich Vogtherr (1490 – 1556)

Painter, draughtsman, engraver, printer and publisher. From 1506-1509 he probably was pupil of Hans Burgkmair the Elder (1473 – 1531) in Augsburg. In 1522-1525 he painted frescoes for the church in Wimpfen/Neckar commissioned by Dietrich von Gemmingen. From 1526 until 1542 he lived together with his family in Strasbourg. In the years 1544 to 1546 he worked with Christoph Froschauer in Zurich, for whom he made many high-quality works of art, also the woodcuts for the Swiss Chronicle (1547/48) by Johannes Stumpf.
