Originally coloured lithographs with different mammals from "Histoire Naturelle des Mammiferes ..." by E. Geoffroy Saint-Hilaire & F. Cuvier, Paris 1819-1842, in cooperation with many well-known artists and lithographers of that time (see single pages).

Etienne Geoffroy Saint-Hilaire (1772-1844) was a French zoologist, who - together with Georges Cuvier (1769-1832) and Jean-Baptist Lamarck (1744-1829) - decisively influenced the development of Paleo-Biology in the 19th century. Frederic Cuvier (1773-1838), the younger brother of Georges Cuvier, was director of the zoological department of the National Museum of Natural History in Paris.
