intensive archeological
studies with
the aim to create
a special series
of copper engravings
to record the
ancient buildings
of Rome to help
to rescue them.
In 1756 he
published the
'Antichità Romane',
which founded
his international
reputation as
an archaeologist.
1757 he became
a member of
the 'London
Society of Antiquaries'
